These R/C Car Vs Audi R8 Drag Races Are Closer Than You Might Expect

Believe it or not, this 1/6 scale Audi R8 LMS will do 0-60mph in around the same time as the full-size road-going R8, making for some close short-distance drag races...

Yes, you really can get a radio control R8 that’s around as fast as the real thing. Well, up to about 60mph - after that this 1/6 scale Losi R8 LMS is all out of ideas. But still, that’s damn impressive, and it looks ludicrously fast in these fun drag races from the ladies and gents over at Autocar.

The R/C R8 is powered by a big 1200Kv brushless motor, and will set you back almost £1000. If you get one for Christmas, consider me very jealous…

They should get one of those 8S race-bred R/C monsters geared for over 100mph, it’ll be no contest.

I have a 1981 Kyosho Landjump. it’s the Pre-Integra model and is currently undergoing an engine rebuild. It has a chain driven AWD drivetrain and an Enya 21CX glow plug engine. It’s my current project car besides my XC90. The engine is supposed to make 0.9 BHP however I am planning on doing an engine swap for more power.

Matt Robinson - I’m not sure it wouldn’t take a lot more to beat it to 80, I suspect that motor could take a somewhat stronger battery and a longer final drive ration. At some point though aero will come into effect to keep it on the ground.
