Forza Horizon 2 is a great game, Forza is a great series but i haven’t played anything else in that series than Horizon 2 and Motorsport 5 (which many said was a big dissapointment)

Forza Horizon 2 is a great game, Forza is a great series but i haven’t played anything else in that series than Horizon 2 and Motorsport 5 (which many said was a big dissapointment)

Anyway, let’s move on

Love: Rewards Every Time You Level-Up

Things i love and hate about Forza Horizon 2 #BlogPost

You can win cars and money; e.g. you don’t have that much cash but you really want that Lexus LFA, so you do enough races until you level up and you finally got that wheelspin and you won some cash! You can finally get that V10 roar from some-thing else than a Huracan

Hate: The Amount of Paid DLC

Things i love and hate about Forza Horizon 2 #BlogPost

You have to pay to get the cool wagons (RS6 C7, RS4 B5 and B8, have to pay for the cool SUVs/Offroad cars (Lamborghini Urus, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, Jeep Wrangler F and F Edition, Lamborghini LM002, MINI Monster Energy ALL4 Racing X Raid) and so on with many more cars

I want to be able to say: ‘’I got a BMW 850csi in the garage’’ But you know what? You have to pay for it!
Same goes with the Tesla Model S, and the Subaru Brat, i want them, but i don’t want to pay for them!
But it’s okay that carpacks like the Fast and Furious is paid DLC

Same goes with Motorsport 5, a lot of DLC, but you can still get some of it, as some of it is free
They kind of fixed that in Motorsport 6 with +400 cars and a lot of it being available without having use your credit card

Great job Turn 10

Love: The Drifting

My main drift car
My main drift car

It’s so easy to just get a simple slide going; Steer in 1 direction (not that 1 direction), flick the handbrake, countersteer and a bit of throttle and you’re good to go

But snap oversteer can occur quite often, because you cannot upgrade the steering angle of the wheel, Forza isn’t really what you’d call a drifting game so no complaints there, although, speeking of complaints leads me to my next point:

Hate: The Necessities needed for Drifting

Things i love and hate about Forza Horizon 2 #BlogPost

Yes, drifting can be so strikingly awesome, especially when you’re holding it just right on the limit all the way through the corner.
But but but, in order to get going, you do need quite a bit of power.

Not even 100-or-so horsepower will do the job, so rain aka drift lubricant is needed when you have low-power, and that was tried in an Alfa Romeo Spider with 115 hp
Alright, i did come through the bend but the slide stopped halfway, so power just is essential to have a proper drift session

Love: The Community

Things i love and hate about Forza Horizon 2 #BlogPost

I play a lot of online roadtrip, and must i say, it’s great! Except for the times when 12-year old d-bags come slammin’ into you for no reason and you lose the race, that’s no fun.

But most people seem to act nice and not try to crash into you, but scratches in online racing is inevitable
I don’t drift as much as i’d want to, because every time i go on online freeroam and pull out the mic and yell ‘’ANYONE UP FOR SOME DRIFTING?’’ nobody answers

Nobody shows a sign of drifting, so i just left it and went over to roadtrips instead, not only because you get a huge amount of cash/XP, but also because it’s much more rewarding, i mean, when you have been fighting for that 1st place for the last 2 laps and you finally get it, not many feelings can over come that.

Love: The clubs

Yes i'm in [ItMe], and yes i feel damn proud
Yes i'm in [ItMe], and yes i feel damn proud

It’s a bit tied together with the ‘’Love: The Community’’ thing. It’s wonderful.
I don’t really race that much with my club, but when i see someone from there in the online roadtrips, i get this glorious feeling, for the reason that i just know that we’re a team

Hate: The missing level of customization

The ToyoBaru FRS is a great tuning platform
The ToyoBaru FRS is a great tuning platform

Hear me out before an internet war is starting:

The overall grade of customization is magnificent. But if they included tuning companies like GReddy and put their goods in the game, they might aswell put the actual wide-body stuff in it, like the fenders

But if you want wide-body, NFS is probably better

Love: The Physics

The cars aren’t difficult to control by any means, unless you got a 1200 hp RWD something and you put you’re fut down, then yes, it will come with trouble

And after you’ve played a fair bit amount of time, all the cars just handle like you’d expect them to

Conclusion:

It’s the best open-world-arcade game i’ve played so far, so if you’ve got an Xbox 360/One, go out and get that game!

If you have any questions and/or input to what i can do better feel free to leave it down below

I have FH:2 for the 360. But got a XBone for christmas. Is it worth it to get it for XBone?

It’s so much worth it, especially after seeing what all the guys say the FH2 360 version, so yeah, go and get it!

Things I hate:

  1. You show up to online events, and everyone is there in “the fastest car”. Nobody ever drives the more interesting cars, because all that matters if if it’s class A, S1, S2, etc.. there are no online events that take car type into consideration (such as FWD events, RWD, Rally Only, etc)..

  2. Speaking of online events… maybe I’m still a n00b, but I find it difficult to know exactly what kind of event I’m joining in online freeroam - it doesn’t really tell you - so I never know what car to take. Nothing worse than taking my RWD track beast only to find out the circuit is half dirt.

  3. Like you said, the 12 year olds who will just ram into you on purpose. Or worse, they realize they can’t win (such as the airport drag) so they steer into you to ruin your chances as well.

  4. People who quit the race because they’re not winning.

  5. On the physics - massive snap oversteer on just about every car. Makes it hard to “steady” a car. Inb4 someone says “realism”, I drive a modified Abarth IRL, and I never have problems keeping it on the road at 100+ mph. In the game, I do. IRL, my car never starts randomly swaying back and forth after a corner. In the game, it does. I have experimented thinking like some say “Well, you’re going faster in the game”, so I tuned the in-game Abarth to have the same specs as my IRL Abarth… and stayed at sane speeds. Still the handling is a lot twitchier in-game than in real life. Even bought a wheel thinking that would fix it - a quite expensive wheel - and it didn’t. I returned the wheel.

  6. I wish (and this goes for almost all racing games) that the leaderboards would have more features. For example, I should be able to see how my ABARTH is doing on this track, and not have its times permanently eclipsed by a faster car I happened to race once. Same with the speed traps - they only record your fastest (X class) car, so by the time you’ve played the game a while, your slower cars (that are more realistic and more fun to drive) have no way to gauge how you’re driving any longer.

  7. Crash physics really are too simple. Better crashes like GTA V would be nice…. just wishful thinking.

  8. Replays SUCK. Forza Motorsport 5 actually has decent replays, but in Horizon 2, you’re limited to the SAME views you get during the game itself. There should be a “chase copter” camera. Even if maybe there can’t be preprogrammed points, you should be able to have a freely movable camera during replays. It should also be movable while paused (similar to photo mode) so you can set up good shots of your car going around corners, etc.

Great comment and i agree to all of it, mostly:

The point where you sau the car sways back and forth isn’ true with me, but i do have a tuned Escalade which can’t really exceed 100 mph before it flips over (it got massive amount of toe caster and camber and so on)

And i really hate that we can’t see what races we’re joining in the freeroam

Nobody

This is the game that made me want an Xbone. Yeah, that reward wheel is great….. the rare time it gives you something other than under 20k credits.

I will admit the wheelspin isn’t giving away the best things all the time, but it’s still good

I completely agree I was thinking i could just buy a Porsche when I got the game, but no. Since they have just recently added them they HAVE to make them DLC. I hate that

Hey Lassi, nice article. Also, you should have mentioned your opinion about that it’s not a true open world game with borders everywhere but it’s just a small part of the game anyway. You even got that editors pick thing bro!
