This Tiny Racing Car Manufacturer Is About To Challenge A 34-Year-Old Nurburgring Record
Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus could be on course to beat a 34-year-old Nurburgring production car lap record if the racing version’s recent pace is anything to go by.
The SCG003C racer has already set a 6m40s lap time benchmark, says the firm; one of the quickest times ever laid down at the circuit. What’s more, it was recorded with 200bhp and 184lb ft less than the production car has, in order to meet racing regulations. It was also lugging 100kg of ballast around, suggesting the road car could be way faster.
Although the racing car’s time is not an official record, it’s already eight seconds faster than the current official 6m48s best for a production car, set by the Radical SR8LM. The road-legal SCG003S is aiming not just at beating the Radical, but also challenging the outright record; Stefan Bellof’s incredible 6m11s time set in a Porsche 956 Le Mans racer in 1983.
Entered into a recent six-hour race at the track, the SCG003C was the fastest car on track, setting the quickest circuit of the race and leading the pack until being forced to retire late-on with brake failure.
For comparison, the Porsche 918 Spyder’s best lap is 6m57s, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante did it in 6m52s and the McLaren P1’s unofficial best is 6m47s. We’ll be keeping a close eye on what Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus does next.

What a time to be alive.
Isn’t it weird? The LT being as fast as the P1 in spa (while being slower in a straight line) the performante being faster than the 918 in the ring (assuming it was fake the GTR is only 14 seconds slower and the GT3 is only 16 seconds slower considering how faster the 918 is in a straight line it’s impressive)
Three manufacturers are building technological statements that also happen to be fast, the other one is just building a racecar.
Forgetting Koenigsegg? They aim to beat the Pagani Zonda Revolucion’s 6:30 lap time as well with their One:1. :)

I’m sure they’ll just run a simulation and call it day just like the advertised 273 mph top speed & their crash tests. (P.S. I love Koenigseggs, just want them to put their money where their mouth is)

I’ve one too! The factory were they produce the SCG003, its just few kilometers from were i live. SCG it’s an american brand, but the cars are buit by Manifattura Automobili Torino in Turin, Italy.
These are also the guys who want to organize a nurburgring shootout with all of the manufacturers. Glickenhaus ftw.
No hybrid mumbo-jumbo. Just a good old ICE and lightweight is still the way to go. Take note, Porsche, Mclaren and Ferrari!

Porsches, McLarens and Ferraris are used on the streets, on normal days. That means they’re engineered and designed for a different purpose.

Am I the only one who was expecting a “tiny racing car?”
I dont think he’ll do it. I can hardly believe that any driver would go around a track so hard that is known to be so dangerous. The risk of crashing and probably dying is way to high.
The driver will probably be one of their VLN drivers, they know the track and car like the back of their hand and will have no issues doing a flying lap.
Yes, the car can beat the porsche 956 le mans, but no human can beat Stefan Bellof
