Toyota Is Replacing A Wildfire Hero's Fire-Damaged Truck For Free
Toyota USA is swimming in good PR today after offering to replace a Tundra pickup that was heavily fire-damaged while helping to evacuate hospital patients from the path of a wildfire.
Allyn Pierce used his Tundra to help evacuate patients from Paradise hospital, where he is lead nurse on the intensive care unit. The hospital was surrounded by deadly wildfire and, as the hospital itself eventually caught fire, evacuation had become the only choice despite emergency staff having already relocated to the buildingās helipad.
The Tundra made two trips along roads that had become terrifying corridors of flame, picking up significant bodywork burns and melted headlights, but it kept running and helped save numerous lives.
After posting a picture of the beaten-up Tundra and a brief story on Instagram, Pierce was shocked to receive a reply from Toyota USA that read:
āWe are humbled youād risk your life and Toyota Tundra to drive people to safety. Donāt worry about your truck, weāre honored to get you a new one!ā
Whether youāre a GM guy, a Ford nut or even just donāt really like Toyota for whatever reason, youāve got to take your hat off. What a classy gesture. At the time of writing the original post has nearly 70,000 likes and over 6200 comments.

To Tesla, this is how you do positive PR
Great sportsmanship! This guy really deserves it
A friend of the Tundra driver set up a GoFundMe for him that has raised $25,000! Gotta love the internet sometimes.
Kinda reminds me of a roasted marshmallow
as honorable as that is, some cars have a disaster insurance as part of their warranty, while most cars are covered by a houseās disaster insurance regardless of warranty. in case of a car that was destroyed by a natural disaster, a new vehicle of equal value should be supplied to the owner via the insurance (only if the car is still under warranty).
Here are some more pictures of the aftermath
This put a big, fat smile on my face! 😁
Wow I follow that guy on instagram and Iām quite surprised to see how much publicity those couple comments got, seen it reposted soo many times and now itās on ct! Iām happy for that guy
Seemed like the perfect opportunity to put the aircon to the testā¦.
Impressive it kept going though.
Toyota. For this I can now forgive you for over pricing the supra, under powering the 86. And even not making the FT1 concept.
