Toyota's Done The Dirty On Us: GT86 Saloon 'Confirmed'
We may not be convinced by the idea of a GT86 Saloon, but no matter, a four-door version has reportedly been given the green light according to an industry insider.
The saloon will sit on the same platform as the regular GT86 coupe, albeit lengthened by 100mm. Despite the extra bulk, you'll find the same 197bhp 2.0-litre boxer four engine under the bonnet. That said, there will at least be the option of a 'Hybrid R' powertrain which should up the power to a much-needed 250-270bhp.
We'll be very interested to see this thing in the metal, but we can't help but think Toyota has given the go ahead to the wrong car. What we really want to see is the stunning GT86 convertible concept made reality. Failing that, our popular GT86 shooting brake proposal should at least be considered before this thing.
