Toyota's President Is Using A Century GRMN Prototype As Official Transportation
Earlier this week, we tried (and failed) to hide our excitement when news of a Century GRMN prototype emerged. The images weren’t great, but thankfully a load more have since been posted online.
They give a much clearer view of the car, and just how awesome it looks. But more to the point, they show a certain Akio Toyoda - Toyota’s current president - getting out of the car upon arrival for a meeting with the chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). Yep, it’s being used as the man’s official transportation, complete with a number plate which appears to reference the year Sakichi Toyoda - the founder of Toyota Industries and Akio’s great-grandfather - was born.
According to Japanese publication Best Car Web, Toyoda said (translated) “I do not have any plans to market yet”.
Let’s some ‘plans’ do eventually arrive - a GRMN version of the Century makes little sense, going against what the car is supposed to be about, but that’s half the joy. It’d be just the kind of well-executed silliness the motoring world needs right now.
