This Trio Of Special Editions Is The Last Hurrah For The Legendary Land Rover Defender

It’s been in production in one form or another since 1948, but this year, Land Rover’s hardiest vehicle will cease production for good. Sob. To celebrate this iconic vehicle - which uses the same basic recipe as the original ‘Series’ Landies - the company has released three new special edition vehicles. From left to right, we have the Autobiography Edition, the Heritage Edition, and the Adventure Edition.

The Autobiography is the poshest of the three, with a £61,845 price tag, a two-tone finish and heaps of standard equipment. The inside has lashings of fancy ‘Windsor’ leather, and like the other two, it’s powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, here with the power bumped up to 148bhp from 121. It’s the most exclusive of the three, too, with just 80 coming to the UK in the 90 Station Wagon body style.

Next up is the Heritage, which features a design inspired from the original pre-production version of the Land Rover Series I. It’s finished in ‘Grasmere Green’ with an Alaska White roof. Because retro.

It’ll be available as a 90 Hard Top, 90 or 110 Station Wagon, with 400 being flogged in the UK with prices from £27,800.

Want something a little more tough and orange? That’ll be the Adventure, then. Available as a 90 or 110 Station Wagon, it’s festooned in a range of off-roading clobber, including a snorkel and underbody protection for when the mud-plugging gets rather serious. It also receives the same power bump as the Autobiography. 600 are available at a price of £43,495.
