Turbo'd Scooby BRZ Coming Soon

If you like the Subaru BRZ, you’ll love what’s coming next…

Subaru insiders have confirmed that the Subaru BRZ – yes, the ‘other’ Toyota GT86 – will come with a turbocharger strapped to its 2.0-litre flat-four engine.

While the news hasn’t been announced officially (it’s been leaked by Scooby insiders) chances are strong that the blown unit will produce around 275bhp, representing a tasty jump from its current 197bhp figure.

Torque will also increase from a limp-wristed 151lb ft figure to around 250lb ft, which should help the rear-drive car of the moment achieve 62mph in under 6.0sec. Flat out, the BRZ T should hit upwards of 150mph, which sounds better than its pedestrian 130mph currently.

We’ll have to wait on further details, but expect to see the BRZ Turbo (sounds good, doesn’t it) on our streets some time in 2014.

Until then, check out our pick of some privately tuned GT 86s.
