Update 1:
Only seven minutes later than scheduled - which is good for Tesla - Elon Musk is on stage, and he starts by saying the reason EVs are important is to accelerate clean driving and save the planet.
Update 2: Musk is now talking about his ‘Secret Master Plan’, which was to start with a low volume sports car, then a premium saloon, then the ordinary family car. Every word he says is greeted with whooping and hollering from the crowd - Tesla fanboys are even more fanatical than Apple fanboys…
Update 3:
Now it’s Model 3 time. It’ll be “an incredibly safe car,” and Musk says it’ll be rated five stars in every category. Even the base model 3 will do 0-60mph in less than six seconds - “at Tesla we don’t make slow cars!” - and there will be “versions of Model 3 that go faster.” The range of the base model will be “at least 215 miles”, with more expensive versions going further, and all will get Autopilot.
Update 4: All Model 3s will come with Supercharging as standard. With the other cars, access to the Supercharging network has come at a premium.
Update 5:
Tesla has already managed to produce 500,000 cars, and says to produce enough batteries for Model 3 it would have to use up all of the lithium ion production in the world. That’s why it’s built the Gigafactory, which has the largest footprint of any building in the world
Update 6: Price! $35,000 for the base model which will be “the best $35,000 car you can buy, even if you don’t choose any options.”
Update 7: Here it is:
Update 6: And that’s a wrap. A short event, but now we know what Tesla’s game-changer will look like, and now we know the stats it’s clear the company is on target to make a disruptive car. Musk revealed that 115,000 people have already ordered a car, so now the big question is whether Tesla can actually deliver.

And then the guys off Roadkill burst on stage in their Hellcat powered old charger, and go on an epic rant on the advantages of internal combustion.
But… They forgot the grille! WHAT?
Guys you made a mistake, they never told autopilot has in every car, they told the hardware is, safety features of the autopilot are the ones in every car, they probably will charge extra to really have autopilot…
It kinda looks like a Pamanera in the front.
I’m not a fan!
Looks like the Porsche Panamera’s idi*tic twin sister no offense.
No gauges on the dash? A heads up display, then?
I like it, and it seems like it would be a really good daily driver.
The nose of a shark, the headlights of a DB11, the roofline of a dodge dart, and the grille of a blank ceiling. Wow. All for the price of many Dacia Sanderos. James is not impressed.
Eww, that’s a dissappointment. I dont know why they design their cars so bland. Oh well, maybe the next generation electric vehicle will be better. There are soooo many better cars for under $35 grand.
Still better than a prius though :)
