The Updated Ford Mustang Is Now (Slightly) Safer
Euro NCAP has released the new scores for the lightly facelifted Mustang, and it’s good news – if only a crumb of it.
The Mustang, which you might remember scored a chronic two stars in testing just five months ago, has now posted better scores thanks to trinkets like autonomous emergency braking and Lane Assistance being made standard. The front airbags have been adjusted, too. It now rates three stars out of five. Still not brilliant if safety is your priority.

Euro NCAP has praised Ford for actually taking action following the eye-opening two-star result early this year, citing improvements in ‘key areas’. They do still call the three-star result “unexceptional.”
Elsewhere the new Honda Civic’s sub-par protection for children means it drops to four stars; a result that will make Honda pretty apoplectic. The new Vauxhall Insignia, Hyundai i30, Seat Ibiza, Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Volkswagen Arteon all hit maximum marks.

Is it safe around crowds now, however?
(I’m sorry for “beating a dead horse”)
Dear CT,
Put this man in the top comments for this week
Actually 3 stars is no where near bad. The reason why it doesn’t have 5 is becouse “It doesn’t have auto-brake, lane assist and protection of rear seats” (That was for 2016 model. The 2017 got those and it still got only 3. Euro NCAP is one of the worst things that happened to car industry. WHY? Safety makes the cars more heavier. Therefore it’s bad, really really bad.
The mustang has been safe since 2015…………can’t run pedestrians over with line lock enabled
insery crowd joke here
AM I FUNNY YET?
No matter what the 66 will still be my favorite :)
Let’s not forget that EuroNcap rules have toughened up a lot in the last couple of years. Three stars now are roughly the equivalent of five stars 4 years ago

Bet it didn’t get 5 stars for pedestrian safety…
A big thing to do with the low safety rating is that it is a popular American car. Euro NCAP want euro cars to sell well so they give the american car a low safety rating.
