Our recent time with a Gran Turismo MC Stradale has inspired us to take a look at used versions of its less sporty sibling

During our recent stint in a Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale (see below), one particular bit of information came up: the standard version of this V8 coupe has been on sale since 2007. As a result, there are parts of this V8 coupe - the spicier MC version included - that feel a bit dated. But there is an upshot: depreciation.

In the last eight years, prices of the original 2007 Gran Turismo have dropped down as low as £30,000, meaning you can get that same basic shape (minus the because racecar bits) as the MC for a whole lot less.

It won’t be as sporty as the MC nor as powerful - the standard GT has a 4.2-litre version of Maserati’s V8, rather than a 4.7 - but you’re still looking at 399bhp and 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds. Oh, and what’s quite possibly the prettiest car you can buy for £30k, with the Aston Martin DB7 being the only other motor that can rival its gorgeous looks at this price point.

If you want more spice, used 4.7-litre S models start at around £42,000, but as it stands, these ‘boggo’ Gran Turismos are gorgeous GT cars with space for four full-size adult human beings. The downside? All the usual issues with buying a fast used car which costs getting on for £100k new: it’ll be expensive to tax and insure, and its not uncommon for service bills to run into several thousand pounds.

Happy to put up with all of that? This one has one 50,600 miles, and is up for £32,980.
