This V8-Swapped 1985 Subaru Wagon Is Being Sold In The Most Brilliantly Honest Way
The whole ‘hilarious classified ad’ thing is so overplayed now that we generally steer well clear of them. If you’re deliberately trying to be funny, chances are you’re failing miserably at actually being funny. And that’s the genius of this advert for a 1985 Subaru Wagon, which gives us a hilarious insight into the car’s long history while feeling like it’s not meant to be laughed at.
The owner talks about losing his virginity in the back after laying the seats flat, mistaking a fart for something more while in the driver’s seat, and helping his wife give birth in the back seat after she couldn’t wait to get to the hospital. Then there’s the time he was sued by a farmer after using the car as a cow battering ram, and when he swapped the leaky engine for a 5.0-litre V8 from a 1988 Ford Mustang.
Our cars are a valued member of the family, and are often involved with some of our most memorable moments; when they’ve been in the family for 30 years like this car has, it’s no surprise that they come with a plethora of memories attached.

Mistaken a fart for something more, child was born in the backseat, virginity was also lost in the backseat…. Craigslist be like “Clean”…
I would still buy it, but i would take out the whole interior and burn it. Weight and all the nasty contamination reduction
I’m pretty sure he’s doing it on purpose. For some reason he was forced to put the car up for sale, be his wife who wants something new or he’s in deep debt, but obviously he doesn’t want it to be sold.
You should have added “What are your memories of your car you would add to your ad if you are ever going to sell it?”-question. Not engaging post. Will tell Adnan.
Hypothetical answer to the question that no one asked:
“I crashed it. A lot. Pylons everywhere. Also many other things, none of which involve farts but some which involve sex… And jumps. But not sex while taking yumps. That could end painfully.”
I love good CL ads, but this is a style I haven’t seen. This is hilarious!
That’s what makes a Subaru, A Subaru.
Sorry to be the bubble burster but it says on reddit this a fake story. I did get a bit suspicious when I saw V8 subaru wagon for $800.
it’s literally up for sale in my area, it’s real. The engine has 268k on it 800 is fair
I couldnt sell that :D
nope. i aint bying that
A car with this much history shouldn’t be sold. It should be handed down through generations.
