Very Orange Collection Of Aston Martins Up For Auction

No less than eight Aston Martins from the same era are set to go under the hammer next month, and there’s a particular theme…

Were you obsessed with a particular colour as a kid? For some, such things last into adulthood - in the case of one well-heeled Aston Martin customer, it seems that hue was orange. Whether or not his favourite drink was Tango, we can only speculate.

As part of a special commission, Aston Martin made no less than eight cars in a bespoke shade of orange for the “private gentleman,” with matching orange interiors. This happened in 2010, and the buyer had what appears to be one of everything available at the time, and now, they could be yours, because 'The Orange Collection' is up for auction via Bonhams’ The Zoute Sale in Belgium on 8 October.

They’re being auctioned individually rather than as a complete set, but who knows, perhaps one bidder will manage to snap up the lot and not split the collection up.

There are two versions of the DBS - a Volante and a coupe - each with an estimate of €80,000 - €120,000 (£69,000 to £103,500), and a similar coupe/Volante deal with the DB9, with a €60,000 - €90,000 (£51,800 to £77,700) estimate apiece. There’s a choice of three Vantage models, meanwhile, comprising a V8 coupe, a V12 coupe, and a V8 Roadster.

The estimate for each of the V8s is €40,000 - 60,000 (£35,500 to £51,800), while for the V12 it’s €50,000 - 80,000 (£43,000 - £69,000). Need some more practicality? The final car in the collection is a Rapide saloon with the same estimate as the two V8 Vantage models.

All are in Swiss spec, and the whole lot is expected to net around half a million euros, Bonhams reckons. Head of sale Gregory Tuytens had this to say about the collection:

"This is a truly incredible and bespoke offering and I envisage collectors wanting to secure the entire collection with many others trying to win a particular favourite. Whatever the outcome, the new owners will own a unique part of motoring history.”
