Here it is, the new Vuhl 05RR. Well, we say new, but that’s not quite accurate: this more hardcore version of the 05 was first revealed in 2016, and we’re still trying to find out what’s new here, other than the fact it’s now on sale.

You’re looking at a starting price of £119,500, or over £200,000 if you tick every conceivable option. Strong money, but then the figures for the car are rather punchy.

Powered by the kind of 2.3-litre turbocharged inline-four you’d normally find in a Ford Mustang Ecoboost, the 05RR produces 380bhp. A handy figure considering the car weighs just 660kg, a drop of 65kg compared to the 05.

This makes for a power-to-weight ratio of 600bhp per tonne, a number firmly in hypercar territory. For context, a Ferrari LaFerrari develops 599bhp/tonne. 0-60mph takes just 2.7 seconds, helped by the power being sent to the rear wheels via a fast-shifting sequential gearbox.

It has a lower centre of gravity than the 05 and “track-focused” suspension, but if you want to take things further, you can spec slick tyres and an even more circuit-biased chassis setup. Downforce has been improved too, combining with the mechanical grip to make pulling 1.8 lateral G possible. Lovely.

Would you have one of these, an Aerial Atom, or a KTM X-Bow?
