Was The Second Episode Of Top Gear An Improvement Over The First?

From the shouting to the long and seemingly pointless Reliant challenge, it was clear you guys found a lot to dislike about Top Gear post-revamp when watching the first episode. But you know what? I actually enjoyed the second episode.

Sure, it’s clear Evans has work to do when it comes to telling an audience about a car in an insightful way (he is new to this, so should be cut a little slack) and can still come across as irritating, but the McLaren feature was good to watch, and the SUV challenge genuinely enjoyable.

Comments in the CT live discussion seemed much more positive too, so we thought we’d put it to a vote to see exactly what you guys thought:

Talking about power, but never mentioning the exact HP ? I’m annoyed

I didn’t like the use of those celebrities in the suv challenge and the star in the rallycross car or whatever it’s called, I thought they had fake enthusiasm and I find that hick guy and the Glaswegian lady uninteresting. I wish they had just had a challenge amongst the presenters instead of trying to make it appeal to those people who only watch for celebrity guest appearances.

The worst bit about the episode was when Chris and Matt were ‘laughing’ at Eddie’s GLC - it was just too cringey

What the f*ck is up with everyone cheating? It ruins the show. I mean Chris was cheating, the South African dude was cheating. Yes the old Top Gear cheated too but not in every single bloody episode.

The issue is more that they cheated in unfunny ways. The now old Top Gear created frequently, but it was always funny the way it was done.

I really enjoyed this episode, they should have Jordan more often in the studio, he is quite funny. Evans wasn’t as shouty as last week, so thats nice too

For the second week, I enjoyed extra gear more than the main show.
