Watch An 1800hp Camaro Blow Its Tyres On A Dyno

Here's what happens when the round, black things cry mercy
When tyres and engines don't get along, this happens When tyres and engines don't get along, this happens

Hot on the heels of 'GT500 explodes rolling road', we're back with another dyno-based disaster. Now you will agree that 1800bhp is not an inconsiderable amount of power. And with big power comes the need for great tyres.

Unfortunately, that message clearly wasn't relayed to the owner of this 1800hp Cheverolet Camaro, a car that was in the process of being prepped for the drag strip. With the Camaro's wick turned up to a simulated 200mph, the rear tyres suddenly cry mercy and let go in spectacular fashion.

Fortunately, the damage appears to be cosmetic after the tyre carcasses flail against the arches. The alloys probably won't be in a great state either.

You may be left thinking that it was better to have this occur on the dyno than on the track. Well as bad luck would have it, the same car went on to suffer the same failure at 220mph on the strip. If it were my car, I'd be finding a new tyre supplier...

Watch the dyno blow-out here and look out for the left tyre getting airborne at around 30secs:
