Watch A 2005hp Gallardo Turbo Destroy The 1-Mile World Record At 263mph
Underground Racing has a habit of transforming fast cars into street-legal racers, and boy, have they outdone themselves this time around. Taking custody of a rich Russian's Gallardo for a few weeks, the American firm upped power somewhat (by means of twin turbochargers) to an unthinkable 1800whp (approximately 2005hp).
Once shipped back to Russian owner Leonid, the 1800whp Gallardo was then taken directly to the drag strip to attempt to smash the one-mile world record at the Moscow 500 (Russia's answer to the Texas mile).
The car's time of just 21.8 seconds at a barely believable 263mph has just clinched the world record, beating the previous time of 22.538 seconds, which was set by a GT-R AMS (as you'll see in video 2). Impressive.
