Watch In Awe As A Modified Porsche 911 GT3 RS Clocks A 7min 9sec 'Ring Lap

Manthey Racing's fettled 'GT3 RS MR' is seen belting out an incredible Nordschleife lap in this Sport Auto test

Ready for a hefty dose of flat-six noise and utter driving commitment? Make sure you’re sitting comfortably, and hit the play button ahead. Do so, and you’ll see Sport Auto’s Christian Gebhardt thrash out a 7min 09.59sec Nurburgring lap, aboard a Manthey Racing Porsche 911 ‘GT3 RS MR’. As you’d expect, it’s quite a sight to behold.

The Manthey Racing GT3 RS still sports the standard 4.0-litre, 493bhp flat-six, but it’s been blessed with GT3 R-derived shock absorbers and lighter magnesium wheels, among other things.

As a result, it’s able to put in a time just ahead of a Mercedes-AMG GT R (clocked on another Christian Gebhardt/Sport Auto effort, as it happens), and just behind that Nissan GT-R Nismo lap from 2013.

Porsche should think about taking this modified GT3 RS and make it a limited production model. And it shall be called the GT3RSRS

Always enjoy reading how modified Porsche racing cars that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars pull a 7 minute 10 second run and a bone stock Corvette Z06 pulled a 7:13 and lcould have gone 4-5 seconds faster. I love the porsches and other exotics but no one ever gives credit to the amazing American cars that are embarrassing all the expensive European machinery.
