Watch A Caterham 620R Complete 19 Donuts In 60 Seconds

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Caterham decided to set a world record with cycling legend turned racing driver Chris Hoy

Caterham turned 60 this year, which means some celebrating is in order. Some celebrating involving the sacrifice of rear tyres.

The purveyors of simple, lightweight, Lotus 7-inspired sports cars sent out Chris Hoy - the former Olympic cyclist who’s made the move to motor racing - to do some donuts. Specifically, as many as he could do in 60 seconds.

Naturally, Caterham slotted the Olympic gold medalist behind the wheel of its most powerful car - the 310bhp 620R - in which he managed 19 complete turns in the minute. He set a world record in the process.

Shall we make some predictions as to who might try to break this new record first…?
