Eau Rouge; a formidable corner and challenge even for the best of drivers. It's certainly not a racing supremo's place of choice to suffer a high-speed puncture, but that's exactly what happened during a GP2 race last weekend.

GP2

GP2 is a junior series that sits directly under Formula 1. It's the crucial final rung of the single-seater ladder before reaching the sport's pinnacle and so as you can imagine, the cars are incredibly fast. Eau Rouge is typically a flat-out corner at the wheel of the Dallara GP2/11 - a car powered by a 602bhp Renault V8 engine with a top speed of over 200mph.

During Saturday's feature race, supporting the Belgian Grand Prix, Dutch driver Daniel de Jong suffered a puncture at Eau Rouge after making contact with another car. Fortunately Daniel walked away from the crash unharmed, showcasing the immense safety of his latest generation GP2 car. However, he will certainly be more careful about cutting across one of his rivals in the future.
