I’m afraid it’s time we talk about another Nurburgring lap time. But before you close your laptop in disgust or put your phone back in your pocket, stick with us, as this is a good’un.

Following Honda’s outrageous 7min 43sec FWD record last week and some amazing amateur efforts we were taking a look at, we bring you a stunning lap from the updated ‘991.2’ 911 GT3.

It just clocked a 7min 12.7sec lap, which - to give some context - is slightly faster than a Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package, and a massive 12 seconds faster than the 991 GT3. The remodelled sections of the track will have helped, but even so, that’s an impressive improvement.

The GT3 in question was fitted with a PDK automatic gearbox (the new manual wasn’t used, for obvious reasons), plus optional carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. The new car has a 4.0-litre flat-six making 25bhp more than the old 3.8, and the car also benefits from improved aero and a stiffer front end.
