It is actually stunning how GTR slingshots at the start even when it is 400 kilos heavier. Can AWD systems actually close that gap this dramatically ?
having owned a modded GTR and now a 458.. yes. The GTR has alot more static traction thanks to awd and its weight pushing the tires into the ground. The GTR is also geared very low to help with traction.. had the race gone on the 458 and mclaren would pass the gtr.
The other two simply can’t put down all their power through 2 wheels as well or as consistently as the gtr can. Same reason why the 918 beats up on the P1 and LaF despite their weight and HP advantage
It’s makes the GTR passed 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7s even if the car weights 400 kilos more and have 60 hp less than the Ferrari but this AWD system generates a lot of understeer. I think this is why even the Viper is faster on the Nurburgring
For performance I’d take the GTR, for looks, character and sound, the 458. For a cross between the two I’d take the McLaren
It’s a shame the GTR doesn’t look a bit more special!
Hope the the Nissan designers are let loose a bit on the R36
Exotic looks were never a priority in the Skyline GTR line-up, so I guess the R35 followed suit
