Watch POV Footage Of The Stig Wrestling The BAC Mono Around The TG Track
Remember last week's Top Gear (season 20, episode 2)? Hammond raced some taxis, May stood around like a pillock, and Jeremy declared that the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was too powerful. Clarkson also drove the bonkers BAC Mono on track as did The Stig who set a blistering lap time of 1:14.3 – the second fastest car they’ve ever had!
Anyway, while we saw the lap in the usual TG fashion (mainly external footage) this POV behind-the-scenes footage has emerged, which shows just how hard The Stig had to wrestle with the Mono to set that incredible lap time.
In case you're unfamiliar with the Mono, its a single-seat road racer built by the Cheshire based Briggs Automotive Company. It costs £110,328, is powered by a longitudinally mounted and naturally aspirated 2.3-litre, 280bhp four-pot and weighs just 540kg (520bhp per tonne). The Mono has a top speed of 170mph and it will hit 62mph in only 2.8sec.
Drive is channeled to the rear tyres via a six-speed sequential gearbox, while stopping power is taken care of by 295mm ventilated and cross drilled discs. The BAC Mono is a little bit awesome, then!
