Watch The Speedo Of This 1800WHP GT-R As It Does A 7.98sec 1/4 Mile

Not even the instruments can keep up as this tuned GT-R runs a sub-8sec quarter-mile

There are Nissan GT-Rs, there are tuned Nissan GT-Rs, and then there is the Alpha GT-R. No, really, that's what this is: AMS Performance's 'Alpha Omega' R35 Nissan GT-R. Heard of cars being called 'weapons'? This isn't an atomic bomb. It's the Empire's Death Star.

We've all enjoyed fast drag launches and anti-lag getaway clips, but here's a new perspective. Check out just how fast this GT-R's speedo winds around from 0 to over 180mph, while the rev-counter whips along at warp speed. The digital readout jumps tens of mph at a time as the Alpha GT-R storms the quarter-mile in 7.98sec @ 186mph. AMS Performance reckon it has between 1700 and 1800whp, but daren't dyno it for fear of wrecking their equipment. We don't blame you, chaps.

Don't be fooled by how quickly the GT-R scrubs off speed after the quarter-mile point though - it doesn't have brakes from a Boeing 747. There's a parachute out back, which can be removed (along with the drag radial tyres) for road-legal usage. The mind boggles, does it not?
