Watch What Happens When Too Little Downforce And A Gallardo GT3 Meet
When your race car has too little downforce and you hit a crest at 160mph, you're going to have a bad time...
Downforce on any fast-moving object is imperative to keep said object glued to the ground. Use too much downforce however, and you'll limit a car's top speed because it's being pushed downwards too hard. Use too little downforce, and you get the opposite problem.
In the video below, you'll see the shocking result of too little downforce on this Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 race car. While being tested on track in Slovakia, the Lambo hits a crest at 160mph. With the front wheels momentarily in the air, the limited downforce up front sees the front-end lifted towards the sky. Luckily, the driver keeps his cool and waits calmly for the car to hit terra firma.
