We Weren't Prepared For This Wide Body Rolls-Royce Dawn 'Overdose'

Spofec - part of the Novitec Group - has done the unthinkable, and made a wide-bodied version of the classy Dawn drop-top

Thanks to its sheer size, huge wheels and that front grille, the Rolls-Royce Dawn is hardly a subtle car. But, some people want a car as far from understatement as possible, and those folks might be interested in what Spofec has done to the luxury drop-top.

Spofec (a named derived from SPirit OF ECstasy) is a part of the Novitec Group, so you can probably see where this is going: we have aggressive front and rear bumpers, enormous wheels and wide arches. Yep, a Rolls-Royce Dawn wide body.

It’s called the ‘Overdose’ (obviously), and only eight will be built. The front axle is 13 centimeters wider than the standard car’s, and in each of those bulging wheel arches you’ll find a 22-inch wheel splashed in whatever colour you fancy.

As well as being much more brazen than a stock Dawn, it’s also much more powerful. The 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 now churns out 677bhp, up from 563bhp, cutting the 0-62mph time from 4.9 to 4.6 seconds. The torque is the most impressive thing though: the V12 is now good for 723lb ft of twist - more than you get in the new Corvette ZR1.

Thankfully, Spofec has thought to offer an optional carbon ceramic brake upgrade on this two-and-a-half-tonne chunk of excess. The front discs measure a colossal 405mm in diameter, with 395mm rotors deployed at the rear. All told, the system apparently saves a whopping 38kg in unsprung weight compared to the standard system.

Instead of swapping out the stock suspension, Spofec has instead fiddled with the Dawn’s existing air setup. A control module has been added, which allows the car to run a ride height 40mm lower than normal. At higher speeds, the car rises back to standard height.

No prices have been revealed, but given the levels of personalisation usually offered by firms like this, each of the eight being built are likely to go for very different (and all very large) sums.

I like it more tha a regular rolls, I mean it is all all about excess and showing off so it make “sense” to do it as a wide body, the kit also looks very smooth compared to other wodebidy kits (I hate the ugly rivets of the pandem/RB/LW kits (and yes I know not all of them have those but most))
