This Is What A De-Catted BMW M2 Sounds Like
Find the standard M2 a little muted? You might appreciate this...
When we ran a BMW M2 as a long-term test car last year, we couldn’t help but think it was a tad muted. But this M2? Well, it doesn’t sound muted. Not by a long stretch.
It’s been fitted with an Fi decat exhaust system, along with an upgraded turbocharger, a carbonfibre bodykit and KW coilovers. It’s now putting out 450bhp, and makes quite an angry noise.
You’ll get the general gist of the car in the first three and a half minutes of the video - after that it turns into a fairly dull autobahn jaunt which is - for the most part - shot in the rain.
What do you think of the noise this thing makes? An improvement, or not?

this entire generation of engines from BMW are a hopeless case in the sound department
387km fuel range with the full tank .. okay it’s stupid to talk about fuel economy when u talk about sports cars but I have 100km more with my m3 v8 NA .. so what’s the point of this downsizing (by the way my v8 sounds better)
Seems like an exhaust upgrade is the first thing you get for the new gen M cars thse days.
That tiny wing looks ludicrous.
I love the sound. Stock is horrible on the M2, but I don’t agree with de-catting.
Sounds like this is less a simple decat and more like a custom exhaust (w/ aforementioned decat - perhaps selectable) and perhaps other mods.
I prefer obnoxious mode myself. Then again, I’ve owned a Lotus Elise with Stage 2 exhaust, decat, and a screaming CAI right behind my shoulder. 😈
What it should sound like from the factory.
I’ll say, I like it
Stupid automatics ruined everything. Dislike.
Its snorty and farty… i wouldnt give that much money to own such a litteraly crappy exhaust noise..
Some might like it, but not me.
I’m driving my cars, and i mean drive them, minimum 35k miles per year. I dont want that ugly noise following me around.
