Coming in 2016 is the new Ferrari Land theme park within the PortAventura park in Spain. Visitors to the park this season may be able to catch a small glimpse of the ongoing construction that has been heavily masked leading up to its unveiling. There are signs flooding the park with images of the future Ferrari Land attractions, which will be the first of its kind in Europe.

The massive project was backed by a large €100 million investment aimed at increasing PortAventura’s whopping attendance of over four million visitors to over five million visitors in 2016. Ferrari Land will cover a space of 75,000 square metres where it will hold rides, memorabilia sites, dining and more. The highlight of the rides will be the fastest and highest vertical roller coaster in Europe. The ride is befitting of the Ferrari brand, which is recognised as a symbol of speed.

The experience wouldn’t be complete without the world’s only five-star luxury Ferrari-themed hotel. Booking will open by the end of the year, so that visitors can plan their stay for the 2016 season with style. The beautifully designed building is, of course, in Ferrari red. The main entrance of the hotel resembles the front wing and nose of an F1 car, and its windows are positioned to look like a Ferrari grill. Inside the hotel are 250 guest rooms, a racing simulator and multiple restaurants.

Details on all the attractions at Ferrari Land are not yet available, but the above video shows an artistic rendering of what the park may look like. If it is anything like Ferrari World of Abu Dhabi, prepare to be amazed. That park opened in late 2010, and it is because of its great success that Andrea Perrone, Managing Director of Ferrari Brand, says they are willing to build a second park. Although Ferrari parks may extend to other continents in the future, Perrone insists they are not likely to push for any soon.

As for Ferrari World of Abu Dhabi, it has been steadily increasing in popularity every since it opened its doors. It’s no secret why this place is so loved.

It is home to the world’s fastest roller coaster, the Formula Rossa. The enormous space frame structure is the largest in the world, making the interior the largest indoor theme park in the world with 86,000 square metres of enclosed space. The curved roof of the structure was inspired by the body of the Ferrari GT, and it proudly displays the largest Ferrari logo in the world.

In addition to Formula Rossa, the park holds more than 20 other rides and attractions for all ages. The Karting Academy was among the most popular attractions of 2014. Drivers can race electric powered go karts around the 290-metre track inspired by the layout of the Yas Marina Circuit. There are also children’s rides like the Junior GT and the Junior Grand Prix to get those petrolheads started early. In the Scuderia Challenge, adult drivers can race head-to-head in seriously advanced hydraulic simulators.

A gallery of production and race cars teaches the history of the Ferrari brand, and the motion seats in the “Driving with the Champion” theatre take guests on a journey behind the wheel of an F1 and a GT car. There is just so much automotive fun packed into one building.

The opening of Ferrari Land in 2016 can’t come soon enough for European travellers. It will surely be a popular spot for race fans who visit the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, less than an hour away.
