Why A Tiny Piece Of Chinese Plastic Will Burn A Huge Hole In Aston Martin's Wallet

Manufacturers recall cars all the time, so a story like this wouldn't normally grab our attention, but when it's Aston Martin, we're a little more interested. It's been discovered that counterfeit plastic had been allegedly used by a Chinese supplier in the construction of an accelerator pedal part.

It's feared the potentially defective part - which has been used on cars built since 2007 - could lead to the pedal arm snapping. Although there's been no reports of that happening yet, the recall affects 17,000 cars - that accounts for a massive 75 per cent of all Astons built since 2007. An Aston Martin spokesman has said that production of the offending part will be moved back to the UK.
