The World Doesn’t Need A Hot Evoque, But Land Rover Has Given Us One Anyway

Everyone seems to be getting on the hot crossover bandwagon these days. We've had the Mercedes GLA45, Porsche Macan and Audi RSQ3, and now this, the un-catchily named Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic.

Under the bonnet, there's a reworked version of the Evoque's existing turbocharged 2.0-litre four-pot petrol. Power is up by 44bhp and the torque increased by 44lb/ft, giving new figures of 281bhp and 295lb/ft. The nine-speed auto gearbox has been reworked too, so it 'responds even more keenly to sportier driver inputs.'

There's no word on performance figures just yet, but the current 2.0-litre four-pot Evoque dispatches 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds and tops out at 135mph. With the extra grunt, the Dynamic should sort the 0-60mph sprint in around 6.5 seconds, and top out at 140mph.

It's expected to cost around £50,000, with the first deliveries taking place in October. Does the world need a Range Rover Evoque with the performance of a hot hatch? Probably not, but it's the kind of pointlessness we like.
