Would You Buy An Electric Toyota GT86?

Japanese company TGMY has ditched the GT86’s sweet four-pot and plonked a few batteries inside. Bastards!

Oi, oi lads, WTF is all about then? You’ve ripped the heart out of the awesome Toyota GT86 and shoved it full of electricity. That’s not on lads, not on!

But we’re all adults here, so let’s see what she’s now packing; the 197bhp motor in the standard car isn’t the hottest after all...

Prepare for disappointment folks: TGMY has packed the GT86 EV with enough juice to develop just 100bhp, giving the former sports car a claimed range of 155 miles and top speed of 124mph.

Not only that, but TGMY’s addition of alkaline has upped the G’s weight by 200kg! Oh dear.

Despite the crap stats, however, the video below looks like this EV offers a decent amount of hoonability. And according to the company, it also lapped Japan’s Suzuka circuit in just 2min 57sec, making it a mere 30 seconds slower than a Porsche Carrera GT. Anyone tempted now?
