Would You Buy A V12 Aston Cygnet?

If there’s enough demand for it, Aston Martin WILL squeeze a 6.0-litre V12 engine into a Cygnet. Absurd…

April 1st? Nope. Still asleep? Think again…

As mental as it sounds, straight-laced Aston Martin is considering a highly limited run of V12-powered Cygnet city cars.

Word has it that the 510bhp Aston DB9 engine will slot into the Cygnet’s engine bay quite easily, but that the engine’s power would have to be toned down somewhat.

If a V12 Cygnet gets the green light – most probably thanks to billionaires in the Middle East – it will be around five times more powerful than the 97bhp its current Toyota IQ engine sneezes out.

With all that new-found power, changes to the current model would have to include massive alterations to the IQ’s (sorry, Aston’s) suspension and chassis.

OK, so it’s way too early for guessing games, but we’d expect a price tag in the region of £150,000 for one of these and a 0-62mph time well under 4sec.

Sound appealing? Or should that be appalling?
