Would You Pay $1,290,000 For This Ferrari 458?

Take a Ferrari 458, shove '$1,000,000 wheels' underneath and stick it on eBay. Sorry, what?

Look on eBay right now and you'll spot the world's most expensive Ferrari 458. It's up for sale for a cool $1,290,000, but here's the kicker - it can't fly. Nor does it have the ability to cross oceans, cure diseases or win Wimbledon.

So why the hell is this Ferrari 458 - a car that costs £178,526 in the UK - on eBay for $1,290,000 (£852,385)? The answer is that this Vossen Precision Series 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia sits on a set of Vossen Precision Series Forged Wheels with Pirelli tyres that are, according to the eBay advert, worth 'over $1,000,000'.

So what makes these boots better than the Veyron's, whose wheel and tyre combo costs $78,240 (£51,700)? We're still trying to figure that one out, as are these guys on Reddit. Looking at the supercar's description we see no evidence of these wheels being made of unobtanium, despite the fact that they do look desperately good.

But the plot thickens. In the attached video (below) we see the Vossen 458 in a glossy short feature.

So what's it doing on eBay for $1.29M now? Was it bought at the stated $285,000 by an investor who's trying his luck? Will anyone dare buy this car for the stated price? Stranger things have happened...
