Absolute legend! there’ll never be anyone who wins fans over as much as Colin did!

I’ve read about Colin some time ago and I have varied opinions now. He could have won more, he was able to, but was too hot headed I suppose. Seems that in racing this would be considered as inexperience, but he was doing that for very long time, sure he realized the consequences of driving flat out constantly.

If u see the video they say he could have won a lot more but that wasn’t his intention he wanted to won and give a great show to people, and that was the important thing, give a great show

Correct, he could have won more. But as Ari Vatanen was saying, winning over and over isn’t everything. It becomes boring. It’s about entertainment and winning over the fans.

but that was colin. he took inspiration from drivers like Toivonen when over crests they would keep flat. in the battle of britain for example he just cut the corner a little bit too much and it cost him but you have to realise at that point he was under a great deal of pressure from Burns. without him crashing out Burns might have not been champion

He was one of the best drivers WRC has ever seen. I’m sorry but that’s not even questionable. Winning more or not makes no difference. In fact if anything not winning so much kept him at an interesting and entertaining level. He pushed so hard, risked so much, even when he was winning or guaranteed too win. He never for a moment slowed down. But, he was also apparently rather unlucky, and it rather frequently played against him.
