You Can Pick Up A Porsche 918 Spyder Really Cheap If You Don't Mind It Being Smashed To Pieces
If you can’t quite afford a 918 but will do anything to own one, how about this fine example as a solution? It’s up for auction with a current bid of $100,000, but as you can see, it’s not exactly in the best state. That’s because the car - number 830 of 918 produced - is up for auction from salvage company Copart, and looks to have been involved in a hefty smash.
It’s missing much of the front end, the rear clamshell is in bits, and you don’t have to be an engineer to know the right rear wheel should not look like that. The “primary damage” is amusingly listed as “all over”, and there’s also “secondary damage” listed for the “undercarriage”.
It doesn’t look like the original owner of the car had much use out of it before binning it either, because the car is displaying just 92 miles on the clock….

The owner writes in description be like: this is an easy fix.
I came here thinking, “oh,it can’t be that bad”, now I understand that money doesn’t buy you skill.
$100k is a bit too much for a unusable car. Best I’d do is $20k, and that because the engine is still in one piece.
I’m sure that all useable parts from that car worth more than 150k.
i bet the people selling it will say its a collectable and use the fact its the first crashed 918 as a point to get the price higher

This reminds me of a Lambo crash video I saw, both this and that amaze me at how safe super/hypercars really are. I mean that 918 must have been in one hell of a smash to look like that but I’m guessing (and hoping) that the driver and passenger came out of it alright
If you have $100,000 to spend on a wrecked car, you most likely have enough to buy a functional 918
put the drivetrain of this in another normal car, would be a hell of a sleeper
