You Can Spend A Night Sleeping Next To Championship-Winning Ferrari F1 Cars

It would be lazy, clichéd journalism to describe Ferrari’s legions of dedicated Italian fans, known as the Tifosi, as ‘eating, sleeping and breathing Ferrari’. Now, though, some of them will get the chance to quite literally do one of those things, as the Ferrari Museum in Maranello is one of an initial 11 locations and experiences announced by Airbnb as part of its new ‘Icons’ series.

The various venues are all culturally significant places that people will be able to request the chance to stay in for a limited time. Among them are a recreation of the house from Up, which quite literally dangles from a crane, and the ‘Purple Rain House’ in Minneapolis once owned by Prince.

The Ferrari stay, though, is the one we’re interested in, obviously. It’s scheduled to take place on 19 May, the date of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, and guests will be hosted by Ferrari ambassador and former F1 test driver Marc Gené who, as revealed by his Airbnb profile, apparently stole his mum’s car when he was younger.

The overnight stay itself is courtesy of a bed set up in the Salle della Vittorie – the room hosting Ferrari’s many, many F1 trophies, as well as some of the cars that won them. The bed, which has just the faintest whiff of a seedy ’70s motel, is circular, made from the same leather as Ferrari seats, and is of course finished in Rosso Corsa.

As part of the stay, you’ll also be treated to dinner in the famous Cavallino restaurant opposite the Ferrari factory gates, get a private tour of the museum, and be ragged around the Fiorano test track by Gené in the passenger seat of a 296 GTB. Obviously, you’ll be watching the race too, so you’ll get to see Ferrari inevitably bungle its strategy right in the heart of the team’s home.

The cost of the stay is unconfirmed, but it’s free to request to book, which you’ll only be able to do from 6 to 8 May. Airbnb will then randomly select a set of guests, who’ll be invited to book from there.
