I found a new favourite racecar; The Lola B2K/10.

The Lola B2K/10 is an LMP1 car from the early 2000s. They were fitted with many different engines throughout their racing career. Some were fitted with a Roush Ford V8, producing 620 bhp at 7200 RPM, and 538 ft-lbs at 6500 RPM. Others were fitted with a Judd GV4, a 72° V10 producing 600 bhp at a whopping 10,250 RPM and 332 ft-lbs at 8500 RPM. They were sometimes fitted with a Porsche boxer 6, producing 600 bhp and 590 ft-lbs. There is one more engine that is my favourite for obvious reasons; a Volkswagen V10 TDI heavily modified by Caterpillar.

In 2004, after a failure the year before, Taurus Sport Racing set out to bring diesel technology back to the 24h of Le Mans. They did so with a Volkswagen V10 TDI heavily modified by Caterpillar. This engine caused the car to have gearbox problems because of the whopping 775 ft-lbs of torque it produced. It was fed by 2 Garrett GT1852V turbos and Pectel multipoint electronic direct injection. It had 2 32.7mm inlet restrictors to make it legal. As you may know, a few years later Audi used one of their V12 TDIs in LMP1. This car could be considered the predecessor to it.
