2000 Honda Civic EJ9

This is my ‘winter daily’, a Honda Civic Ej9! D14 engine, dethrottled from 75 to 90hp. It has 171 000km on the clock and runs perfectly. Checked it this week for rust, under the car only the exhaust rusts (exhaust leak) and it has a bit of rust all around but nothing serious.

1 day after I bought it, I started stripping it. The rear is completely empty, but I have to put the backseats back in since most of my friends don’t have a car or driving license yet -.-
Then I bought a Bee R rev limiter (Type H) and installed it. There is no guide on how to install it, but the wiring is the same as in the B16B (Ek9). My ECU and Bee R are currently lying in the footwell, as seen in the picture.

Bought some new wheels too, the current ones (winter and summer) are on ugly steelies with hub caps. You can see my new wheels on the picture, these are Autec Wizard with 195/45 ZR 16 tyres.

Plans:
The Civic was intended as winter daily, but maaaybe I’m going to build my way..
-decat coming soon
-need some new exhaust parts, since it’s leaking (only aftermarket muffler, rest stock)
-suspension (maybe AP coilovers, heard they use KW parts)
-fitment, bit of camber
-new wheels (yep, need some deep dish wheels for summer)
-racing seats, deep dish steering wheel
-roll cage
-clean bumpers
-usdm front light kit, jdm rear light kit
-stripping it completely
-painting it black (not sure tho, all black would be sick but the supersonic blue is pretty cool too)
-Spoon spoiler

Before you start screaming ‘uhh don’t stance it uhhh’: issa 90hp car with a trash engine. If I have enough money I’m going to engine swap (k20 turbo?!) it and make a race setup. But for now I can’t win races, so I will lower it and show up at some meets lol

Fun to drive tho, for now I don’t need more power. It’s cheap in insurance and has low fuel consumption. Perfect winter daily lol

Any name suggestions?

I’ve always thought Brad would be a cool name for a Civic, especially if I had one :D

What’s the difference between the EK9 and EJ9?

Same model (ej/ek) but different engine and suspension, sway bar etc.

EK9 is the top range 1.6L DOHC B16B 182HP Type-R model, whereas the EJ9 is an economy model with a 1.4L SOHC D14a3 which makes an astonishing 74HP.

Would you consider buying OEM EK9 CTR seats? As they can still be daily driven and used track, they’re also OEM so that’s a bonus.

Nah thinking about racing seats.. Omp First R, we have them in our Starlet and they are perfect.

I personally wouldn’t get AP coilovers, I’d either get Tein or the best option would be to get OEM EK9 Type-R suspension off a honda parts retailer and if you want add lowering springs from Tein, Eibach or Spoon. Spending under 750 euros on suspension isn’t a good idea.

I don’t want to spend too much on the suspension, it’s a low budget build. It’s a 1500€ car, imo not worth buying such expensive coilovers.
Do you have experience with these AP coilovers?
