A £13.000 Audi RS4 B7 Saloon Will Make You Smile Everyday - But Your Neighbours Will Hate You

In times, when Turbochargers were only built in smaller engines, Audi created it‘s second generation RS4 from the seventh generation of the Audi A4. The RS4 B7. From 2005-2009, You could buy the B7 as a saloon, or as an „Avant“. Today, in 2019, You can get a saloon for around £13.000. Let me introduce You to the world of the High-Revving-V8-Engines!

Under the hood, we have the 4.2 liter V8 engine, like I said before. Of course, it‘s naturally aspirated. Because of that, it revvs until 8250RPM, which is, in my opinion, AWESOME! Thanks to that, the FSI-Engine produces 420HP, that catapulte You to 62mph in under 5.0 seconds. If You floor it, the acceleration will end at 155mph! You might say, „Turbocharged cars are faster“. That might be true, but then You don‘t understand the feelings and emotions of natural aspirated engines!

Like I said in the beginning, You can get a model of the RS4 B7 Saloon for around £13.000. For that money, the example will have 90.000 miles on the clock. Additionsl extras depend on the offer. Now You ask: „Why will my neighbours hate me?“ If the car is stock, they will accept it. But if You buy an aftermarket exhaust (which I think many of You would buy), the RS4 B7 will be LOUD!!! When You coldstart it, the whole neighbourhood will be awake ;)! And when You use the full 8250RPM, the 4.2 liter V8 will scream and scream and scream. So if You look for a good looking saloon with lots of emotions, and a brilliant engine, a manual gearbox, and lots of luxury, the RS4 will be a good option for You!

Is that the generation with (possible) timing tensioner issues? A couple years ago i almost bought an RS4. Did some research and turned out that they had a chance of having tensioner issues after 70k miles or you go 200k miles and it never be a problem. Parts alone were like 1300, then labor was a couple more grand. The timing is on the back side of the motor so it has to pulled to replace parts. If i remember correctly. I can’t remember what year the one i was looking at was, but it had 80k miles and i didn’t want to take a chance on having to deal with that. Beautiful cars, and a blast to drive though.
