First. Car. LIVE! #14: [Mitsubishi Colt CZT] Rate it in the comments below.
Intro: I tried to mix it up once again, but didn’t work. I suppose people don’t want fuel efficient cars as their first. So here is a more powerful one that wouldn’t break the piggybank. I suppose i shouldn’t try to change the format anymore.
First and foremost, it’s powered by the 4G15 Turbo.
And what’s that? A 4G engine? If it sounds familiar it’s because it’s from the same series, the Sirius generation, as the Evo/Eclipse’s 4G63T engine.
This bad boy has 150HP and 180NM from factory and can take so much more.
For this one, i want to do something a bit different.
Instead of buying one car, we could buy two.
Why two you may ask. Well, it’s because the CZT didn’t come with the 4WD system, although it should have, imo.
So, instead of just one CZT, we could get a CZ3 Motion too.
But enough of that, so let’s go to the fun facts.
It was released back in 2002 and designed by the designer of the Evo X. Also, the convertible CZC was designed by Pininfarina.
The extended trunk version of it, Colt Plus, is still being sold to this day in Taiwan. Even got a facelift in the form of the Plus iO and a performance model, the Plus Turbo.
The regular Colt had, not one, not two, but three Ralliart versions.
The Ralliart, Ralliart Version R and Plus Ralliart.
Every single one of then having their own identity and style.
For this one, since it doesn’t require a lot of changes to gain power, i thought i’d focus on more interesting parts.
The first and only major mod would be the drivetrain swap from the Colt Motion to the Colt CZT, making it one of the few AWD swapped Colts.
Next up would be a simple Stage 1 chiptune, because with no hardware mods, the CZT can be pushed to 200HP and 260NM of torque. But because we want hardcore looking cars, we will also have a custom cold air intake and free flow catalizer, just for better air flow. It’s better for the engine anyway. And of course, red accents under the hood.
After selling (cough flipping cough) the now FWD CZ3, there would be some profit made of off that, money which would cover the mechanic’s cost, if you don’t swap the drivetrain DIY… Which i personally won’t, because i consider this stuff better being done by somebody professional, especially being the first car.
The final budget could be under 3000€, depending on how cheap you can find a CZT.
At the end of this project this would become a fast, safe and stable first cart.
It’s a really special kind of hot hatch, mostly because of it’s history and how much effort was put into it.
I’ve never seen any other Mitsubishi car with three different Ralliart versions and i admire that passion they had in the past.

Cool. :)
I’ll give it a solid 7,7/10
Nice. 🖒
Oh man! Epic! I’d have given it 10/10 if it looked better but it still manages a solid 9.5.
9.5 is still good.
9.5/10. Love the little Colt
This is favourite Colt generation.
8.7/10, love these, but the facelift version bcs the one in the picture is ugly, so ugly.I think of these as mini Evos so yeah gr8 choice!
Yeah. This was also upgraded to 180HP and can be chiptuned with no hardmods to 210HP.
They must have probably tweaked some internals between the generations.
Although, the only special thing the Ralliart version of the facelift has is a spoiler. No more bodykit. :/
You should rate the 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport!
ITS AN AMAZING FIRAT CAR!
oh and id say a solid 7
Will check the prices on that in a minute.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Funny you mentioned this - I am looking for my next car and have been eyeing up the JDM version - the Colt RalliArt Version R. Same specs, but in a more outlandish body.
It looks insane with that wide body from factory.
What would you rate this, btw?
