Am I the only one who thinks that the Kia Stinger is quite overrated?

It’s a kia trying to get into German dominated territory. I would easily have a bmw 4 series grand coupe, an Audi A5 sportback or a VW Arteon over this.
The interior is very boring and the exterior looks are questionable in my honest opinion.
What do you think?

I think there is too much hype for this car. I don’t like the looks and I don’t like how it copys so many parts and styles from other car manufactures. From trusted reviews I’ve seen the quality is not to German standards. It seems to of developed some fan boys already. But it’s fair to say Kia are imporving but I think they wont age well.

Exactly. I saw carwow’s review on this and the interior quality was appalling.

Maybe it’s different in Europe. In Australia, a BMW 340i costs about $30,000 more than a Stinger GT.

340i??? That’s nonsense. Here in Europe you would have to be mental to buy such a thing… Actually I think bmw doesn’t even sells that version. Here in Europe we like the 320 d. But the price is not the point really. Sure the equivalent audi or bmw are more expensive but that’s because quality is expensive. Look at the vw phaenton. It went against cars such as the s class or Audi a8. It was a salles desaster.

Consider each car with a 250ish bhp engine under the bonnet. Then the BMW 430i Grand Coupé starts at a healthy 3000€ more and has less equipment. The Audi A5 Sportsback (2.0 TFSI) is even 8000€ more expensive (admittedly it has AWD though) and looks incredibly bland. The VW Arteon with less power is about the same price as the Kia (VW doesn’t offer a 250 bhp engine there), but when you consider a VW, then you shouldn’t criticise another car because of its boring interiour.

Also note that the prices I mentioned are the prices in Germany. If you buy said cars in another county, the price difference is considerably larger.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t dump a healthy 10 grand more into a car that looks incredibly bland, has a shorter warranty, higher service costs and lower resale value, just because it says BMW, VW or Audi on the grille.

I think vw interiors aren’t all that boring. The arteon interior looks quite good. The stingers interior lacks in quality and imagination. Btw I’m not saying that the Stinger is a bad car. I’m saying is not as good as many people are saying.

What are you talking about? the 430 gives german reliability+more power+better interior+one of the best looking cars for 3000$ more, it’s a no Brainer,
Also, the A5 is a car of the next class (Technically, much bigger and all)
Also the bmw 3 series does exist, it looks better, you can spec it very well (Since the starting price around 10k pounds less)

Not really.
Is fast, it looks amazing, is reliable, 5 star NCAP, 8-speed paddle shift, 365HP 3.3L V6 Twin Turbo and 0-100kmh in 4.9 seconds.

Is, like, the next Nissan GT-R, imo.
Is not as fast, but is half the price.

I don’t think it makes much sense to the European market. For that kind of money I would have a lower powered German car. The quality of the Stinger is quite questionable.

Richard Hammond explains this phenomenon very well in the Africa special. (I’ll try to explain it as good as he did) You see in a school marathon the Physically-challenged kid will get more praise than the athletic child who won? Or a women senator is a bigger deal than a white-male president? Etc
The reason people are going so crazy about it is because Kia did this.
(And also, cars like the golf-r and focus rs also cost the same and are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than this)
The car community does this all the time, they did this with Alpine’s new car, even though the Cayman makes wayyyy more sense. They did this with the Model-3 even though it’s garbage, value, they did this with the m760li(Even though the Panamera makes sooooooooooo much more sense) .

The kia is relevant tho. It’s fresh air, luxury 1800 kg with a decent price and a sporty mode if you feel in a f&f mind
