Attention: The Car Throttle Community Page Is Closing
Hello all,
Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to the Car Throttle community. Following on from the closure of the CT app last year, we’ve taken the tricky decision to cease access to the community part of the website and the post creator as of 3 May 2021.
After that date, we’ll begin archiving existing user-generated content and will bring in a new third-party comment system for our homepage editorial pieces, which we encourage you all to use.
It’s not all bad news, though - we have some exciting stuff in store for our most dedicated users! Exclusive content, awesome competitions and great offers on the horizon via our newsletter, which you can sign up for here.
Thanks for your support.
Matt

Is this due to finance issues with the website or just not interested in developing the site further?
Keeping profiles with their ‘’garages’’ I would recommend though
It’s part of a business plan the company moved on from years ago - it’s been clear for a while the community needs some TLC we just don’t have the resources for. The site is actually being developed further, which is part of the reason we’re deactivating Community - the new platform we’re set to move to in the near future doesn’t have the framework for a section like this.
Well, all good things must come to an end eventually, huh? Wish I could say I didn’t see this coming but honestly I’ve been expecting it since about 2018 lol. Still, credit where credit’s due, it was good while it lasted.
Yep, it’s been fun. We all knew the end was coming and frankly, when new registration got restricted it cut off the young new users a site like this is made for. After that, we all just… grew up, I guess. Nice Veloster by the way.
Yep, the inevitable. I just didn’t expect this little a week after I made my first post in a year. I’m gonna miss so many good names on here. Good times to be missed, but alas, we knew this was coming. I just hope that user profiles stay available to reminisce over for years to come. Thanks Matt for everything you’ve done.
I doubt anything will be archived so I suggest you get on saving those photos/things you had on your profile if you need them.
Nevermind what I said
MATT IS A COOL DUDE MATT IS A GREAT GUY I LIKE TO EAT FOOD AND CARTHROTTLE’S GONNA DIE
But really, no hard feelings at all. Considering the utter lack of comments on this community’s obituary I think the correct choice has been made. Matt Robinson if you and the team could make a public announcement on say, Instagram or Youtube of this solemn event, perhaps old users could come to say their last goodbyes? I think that’s the right thing to do with all of the memories stored here.
I think it is understandable; some of these community pages haven’t been posted on for months. I use Car Throttle more for the car news anyways.
I used to be active here in 2018/2019 and I loved this community so much. The community has been dead for a while, so it’s understandable why this is happening. Can’t believe I just signed in the website randomly just one more time and I fond this at the right time.
To all the CTzens out there, farewell!
Welp, back to DriveTribe I go. To my friends on here, both the ones who’ve stuck around and our dearly departed, farewell. It was a wonderful four years, and I wouldn’t have missed ‘em for anything.
What is DriveTribe like to post content on nowadays? Is it all just a promotional tool for Clarkson and Co or do people actually enagage?
Can’t believe I was 13 when I joined… god I feel old.
And 5 years after joining it’s coming to a close. Won’t forget all the memories and the friends I’ve made on here.
It’s been a fun couple of years boys!
I’m gonna miss that sweet Forester of yours. Geez, remember the RM/Stubaru debacle? Good times dude! It’s been a trip.
I, too, joined when I was 13/14. I was there in the very begining. I am now 20. Glorious times.
Really crazy to think I joined five years ago, sad to see the community closing. It was bound to happen sooner or later, not much activity here aside from the news. Been fun while it lasted!
Thanks for the memories. This is it, the last day. Good to know ya. -TWG
This is sad, but ultimately inevitable, and i understand why this difficult decision was taken.
I joined CT nearly 4 years ago, and i have some very good memories i won’t forget. I remember how active this community was when i joined, then it slowly became what it is today, but i still enjoyed my time on this site nonetheless.
I guess it’s true: All good things must come to an end, after all.
