Same symbol on lawnmowers means choke but 91 should be efi
For some reason, someone swapped a carbed 4AF motor when we bought the car haha
Is your Corolla carbureted? If yes, that’s a choke symbol. It sets the throttle to open wider while heating the engine. There are manual choke and auto choke. Your choke seems manual, So to turn it off you find the knob (usually slightly under between middle part of the dashboard and steering wheel) and disengage it once your engine heat up at operating level. Hope it helps.
Correction: Choke valve actually increases fuel flow while restricting the air flow. This used when starting a cold carbureted engine therefore you’ll need to disengage once engine working at operating temperature level.
Choke valves is no longer applied after Fuel Injection introduced to the market.

Might be problems with the throttle body. Try fully accelerating in second gear. If the car is choking then, and you feel the nose of the car going down . If it does something like that, it might be the throttle body. Either the electric part or the actual mechanic part.
Ummm is it for a carbed engine or efi? Cause we have a carbed one
