Idk to be honest, i think it has something to do with modern safety regulations
People want wider seats (mainly because they’re getting wider lol), and it’s rather troublesome to get into the driver’s seat.

Maybe safety. Or just that they’d rather fit 4 seats than 3, or 2 seats rather than 3 for the supercar feel. I don’t want manufacturers to do it though, it’d ruin this unique feature of the McLaren F1.
