Saab 9-3 SportCombi, Exhaust heat shield rattling. (long post) #ActualCarWork

the one place i don’t like to work under a car is on gravel i think most will agree. Our garage was busy installing a 2 post car lift and it was just a mess in there so i had to deal with it outside.

i had to remove the exhaust and i discovered that the rubber mounts was a bit to loose.
i was able to get out the heat shield whit no problem and i think you can tell why.

i decided to cut the original attachment points away well most of them that i could reach because there was no longer any thread do to all the rust.

so i drilled some new holes and sprayed rust protection paint then squeezed in some rivet nuts.

how it looks like from above, i put them where they support the exhaust shield the best and evenly.

didn’t have any big washers so i got some thin metal squares for the time being the heatshield need to be replaced anyway they worked out pretty good but not the nicest look i must admit.

Nice and clean and some wd-40 in the rivet nuts so i don’t have any problems later on.

I also vacuumed the trunk space and it looks alot better

looks alot better, normally don’t show of all car work that goes on but i might upload more like this insted of spamming the comments with content. XD and any advise to create better content is always appreciated thanks for reading.
