Amateur concept car designs that should be built for real

Certain car manufacturers are able to build a large fan-base just because people find their products very appealing. And in recent times, many fans became amateur car designers, and they create fictional cars for real manufacturers to satisfy their need to design, the Chrysler Nelatti can be used as an example.

It’s sad to say, that many of these designs will never see the light of day, even if they are better looking than the manufacturer’s current range. BMW, for example; has experimented with adding a mid-engined roadster to their line-up, but it never materialized. The concept that was imagined, was an amalgamation of the BMW E90 3 series and the Audi R8, which looks good.

The BMW M-Zero is probably one of the most descent looking amateur-concepts. A concept that still looks good among BMW’s current range, so good in fact, that should BMW produce it, it will be a very big hit.

Sometimes, the amateur design can create such a stir, that the real manufacturer responds to it with their own new design inspired by it. That was the case with the BMW M1 amateur design. The design turned heads so much that BMW finally responded with a retro version of the original M1, and this sparked BMW ‘s renewed interest in mid-engined supercars, which resulted in the BMW i8.
