Xbox 360 vs one controllers for racing games

My Xb360 controller is giving up the fight and the cable is done so i was wondering should i buy another 360 controller (this time wireless) or a xbox one s controller. If you know more about them please tell me. The only thing is, i don’t know if the newer controller is backwards compatible because I usually play older games like tdu1, tdu2, nfs and i’m afraid the games won’t recognise the controller as an xbox controller. That and the xbone controller costs 70€ instead of 50 for the older one.

I usually play games from around 2005/2006 and while some games recognise the controller, after a while it just disconnects so I’d go with the X360 one..

I don’t have any experience with xbone controller, but I can just tell you the 360 one is really solid. I have my wired x360 pad working for a little less than a year, no complaints ever since. So if there really isn’t anything else to choose from and the xbone isn’t meeting the conditions, go for 360 again.

I will probably go for 360 controller for pc but definitely wireless, i can deal with buying batteries, after a year my wire strted going wonky and started switching to player 2 or 3, modern games can deal with that but older titles can’t. Just a tip, be very careful with the part of the wire near the controller, I’m guessing it’s pretty fragile wiring because when i move it it fixes itself suddenly.

The Xbox One controller is totally compatible with all games the Xbox 360 controller is compatible with, since, for Windows, they are both the same. The pros of the Xbox One controller are that it’s a bit more comfortable for your hands if you play for long amounts of time. It also has Bluetooth, so you can use it with Android and Windows phones and tablets, if your pc has Bluetooth, you can wirelessly connect it without the extra USB stick. The cons of the Xbox one S controller are the lower battery life and it’s a bit more fragile than the Xbox 360 controller. (It still is very sturdy) The cons of the Xbox 360 controller is primarily the d-pad. It’s way better on the Xbox One controller. The Xbox One controller is definitely more future proof, since it will be supported in next Windows versions, which I’m not sure about with the Xbox 360 controller.

Edit: the Xbox One controller has, depending on your batteries, about 25-40 hours of play time, while the Xbox 360 is able to do 56 hours, but it isn’t as consistent, so id you have worse batteries, 3 hours is also possible.
