I asked: "Why do you hate Opels/Vauxhalls?" and you responded #blogpost

Im honestly amazed, i bet every single one of you waited for someone to ask this question so that you can get your anger about them out without you starting the fight first, right? Well, there are people who love Opel and then there are those who love some Opels and those who dont like Opel at all. Why? Well im going to explain almost every comment here.

Raregliscor1 comments:

There are 2 parts.

Ok, i whouldnt say they made boring cars in 80s to 2010. Look at Omega (i will get to that reponse later), Senator, Manta, Monza, Kadett GSi, Astra GSi? The Astra GSi has a amazing front to make it look more agressive and less “old people style”. “Crap after crap”. What? Alright, i understand Opel did some questionable things, but they werent crap. Jeremy Clarkson said that the Opel Zafira is all that he needed for his “Car of the year 2000” and said the only problem is that its a Vauxhall, probobly wasnt serious so that he can make the Multipla joke. What about that 2008 Opel Astra OPC, it has so much torque when you accelerate its stearing wheel will start going to the left. How brutal is that? Thats one example and there are many other ones, just check Irmscher Opels and you will understand everything…

Raregliscor1 experience:

That really depends on what version your mom had. I dont understand how are Vectras only boring in UK while in other parts of Europe they are full of character… Oh yea, i remember, because Jeremy Clarkson said its bad… Why? Because he likes Ford and who is the rivalry to Ford? GM, and what GM owns? Opel…

Sojzim8's opinion:

T-T-This K-Kinda T-T-Triggered-d-d M-M-Me

Mr.AMWV10 comment:

I saw his profile, im not even surprised why he doesnt love Opels (no ofense). Anyways, good thing that chavs dont buy Saxos, Golfs, Clios and other hatchbacks, nope they buy Opels (not only Corsas, they buy all of them). Makes no sence… Why then not hate Citroen, why not hate VW, why not hate Renault? Is it because your parents thought you that more expesive means better, fine then imma buy a Hummer and see if the price payed off… Opel was never meant to be like BMW where they made expensive luxurious cars. No, Opel is made for people who dont have much money but need a new realiable car. Opel has everything for everyone from Coupes RWD and Coupes FWD and Coupes AWD, Hatchbacks, Sedans RWD and FWD, Vagons RWD and FWD, Muscle cars, small eco-boxes… And i asked for the car and not for owners.
Makes no sence how people only say bad stuff about bad cars and how bad their owners are, but for expensive cars like Mercedeses people dont say sht because they are afraid…
People on CT need to learn to have their own opinions.

Dennis comment:

This one doesnt really make sence, since i asked about the cars not their owners but anyways. I didnt find any source, but it doesnt make any sence… I already discussed “boring cars”. As i said a million times and everybody on the planet knows: Opel is not meant to be a high qualitiy, they make cheap cars for people blah blah blah.
That part about them losing identitiy is true

So now here goes those that really dont need a explanation or that i explained earlier:

And now for people who actually like them:

Alright, thank you all who i guess love Opel like me :D
But why did i make the blog? Well because Opel is a hidden gem and nobody is paying attention because everybody is focused on other peoples opinions. We had a Opel Astra F Caravan the car was full of character, just driving it you are cheering for it to get you places (ofc we are poor so we had a broken car). Its exhaust was broken and when my dad floored it, it was the best sound ever, you just chouldnt smile :D
Now we have a Opel Vectra C, (125bhp) when you floor it, its like your body and soul are left behind. Plus its one of the best Opels ever, it is very safe, very fast, very good looking, rust is rare only thing missing is that it should be RWD and people whould go nuts for it.
Why did i include people who also love Opel?
Because they are not afraid to show it, they arent scared of their opinion.

“Opel is made for people who dont have much money but need a new realiable car.”

a-hem
No.
I know my father good and well, and I’ve heard of each and every one of his cars. Never has he ever talked about one wit as much disgust and regret as his Vectra.
In his own words “They made parts that costed 20 cents cost 10 cents, and to save those 10 cents killed the reliability of the car.”
To be clear, his second-favorite of the cars he’s owned is a 2000 Toyota Corolla SW. Which means it doesn’t take a lot to please him. The car’s just gotta last, and feel good. As sad as it was to find out since I kinda dig it when we had it (I was a child) the Opel did not deliver any of the two. At all.

This is from a person who doesn’t personally hate Opel, never did and (hopefully) never will.
I actually don’t dislike the newest cars’ design, and a GT/Speedster/whatever the hell it’s called passing by will always turn my head.

But it was quite sad to see when it came to an actually properly written comment (Dennis’s) you answered to the wrong one.
(I’m working on the assumption you answered to the wrong one because there was nothing in that comment you addressed and you addressed things that weren’t even in the comment instead).

I do love the old GT,the Manta, and others, and I do think a good car is a good car, carelessly of the brand.
But just as I’ll never be able to love an ugly-looking car (which I’m really sad about),some may never be able to love cars from a brand they hate,or owned mainly by the kind of people they hate.

Well how did then Sojzim8 like their Vectra? There are people from my other posts where i included the Vectra, some responded that it was fun and it was full of character. Idk maybe it depends on the version you are looking at, or maybe that your dad got. Dennis was talking about how their owners are ricers or something like that, raregliscor1 said that there are points that were legit. My brothers in law friends has a Vectra B, its stunning, and its the Irmscher model (only one in Croatia). And even the exhaust sounds amazing, not something you whould expect from a familiy sedan

The idea was nice, but please respect other peoples opinions. If they don’t like certain models or don’t like the brand for a reason respect that. Also looks are based on opinions, imo the Omega looks boring. So what? Also the 2008 Astra (Is it the J?) with the torque, that means it is powerful yes, but not that balanced for the FWD drivetrain.

Does that mean I don’t like them? No. I live in Rüsselsheim, the origin of Opel if you’d know, so every second car is one. The new Insignia looks promising, I’ll wait for the 2017 models for an opinion

Don’t get me wrong I don’t particularly dislike Opel/Vauxhall. However it’s true that the Corsa and the Nova are known for being owned by chavs (AKA people who race their grandad’s car at their local Walmart parking lot). And that’s not the only car that is known for being driven by chavs. There are VW Polos, Ford Kugas, even BMWs and Audis. As I said before, I don’t have anything against Opels and Vauxhalls. They’re cheap and reliable (the newer ones mainly, the older ones rust like hell). In fact, that’s one of the main reasons why chavs like these cars. Plus some chavs don’t even buy their cars, some of them steal them from their grannies or from a parking lot in some place. However, I’m going to be honest with you Opel and Vauxhall aren’t my top manufacturers since they don’t produce the type of cars I like (except the Opel Speedster). And I don’t think a car is better because of how much it costs. For example I like Subarus, Volvos, Fords, Mitsubishis, etc. However I do have a penchant for exotic cars thought. Anyway, at first I thought you wanted to know why Opels and Vauxhalls had a bad reputation, so I gave you a very generalized and stereotypical explanation to why these cars didn’t particularly have a good reputation. I’ll try to use less generalized arguments next time

I feel bad for the guy who says Opel rust like hell, my mother (and since this year also me) have been driving a 2003 Opel Astra in the winter everyday, every year since 2003. Not a spot of rust, not even on the wheelarches, although the paint is starting to go there.
I’m not saying they’re amazing cars, the GM bit is kinda true (losing identity), and my kinda sporty looking Astra convertible (check my garage) is slow as f*ck, but i don’t care, they’re fun to drive and learn the limits of a car in, without having to go 50 over the speed limit.
Peace

I don’t know where you live but visit Germany and see for yourself. 2000s Opels are rotten lul, nowadays they’re fine

Same here… My dad had a Opel Astra F Karavan and he drove it since 2001 every day. Was in good condition.

I love the old Opels from the 70s and early 80s like the Kadett C. Monzas were not faster than BMW’s though. There were no match for the 635CSi or even the M635CSi. From the late 80s until mid 00s Opel was in my opinion complitely on the wrong trot, making dull rustboxes. I really don’t like these Cars even though I learned driving with an Astra G. Cheap does not have to mean dull! But they were, sadly…
Now they are getting back in the game. (Why nobody mentioned the Adam I don’t know?) The problem is that there has been done a shitload of damage in the past. And it will be hard for them to get out of this dilemma…
