What throttle-system does the Golf IV have?

Can someone tell me if the throttle in a VW Golf IV 1.4 16V works via a cable, or if it is an electric system?

Pretty sure it’s electronic.
Could just check at the pedal if there’s a cable or not

I’d already looked for one, but decided to ask just to be sure.
Explains why the throttle on my “new old Golf” feels so “spongy” and indirect.

the 1.4 16V has a cable, in my case the engine code is AKQ, I was cleaning the throttle (don’t know if its the right word, that thingy controlling the air intake), and i had to reset it.. and when youre going to clean it, you’ll see, it has got a cable.. btw, I’m working in a VW Garage so I’m pretty sure about what I said :D
