The 2017 Mustang GT v.s the 2017 Focus RS

Both are from ford, both are manuals, both cost around £30,000 ($40,000) and both are very blue! To bulk the mustang up lets say it’s a premium performance pack with leather recaro’s.

We now have countless reviews of the brand new RS, and have reached the climax of the immense hype that this car recieved. With that it’s fair to say that we all have opinions on the blue oval’s brand new hot hatch. It’s peppy 2.3 liter turbo puts down 350 hp and 350 lb/ft of torque. The latest RS is down 1 cylinder but up by 2 more powered wheels compared to the last generation RS, and is now available in the U.S.

The s550 mustang has been around for nearly 2 years now, and the 5 liter is still kicking with 435 hp and 400 lb/ft torque. The S550 mustang recieved its key upgrades in the suspension department, dropping the solid rear axle for a more refined independent rear suspension. This makes the latest iteration of the pony car more of a proper sports coupe rather than a straight line demon.

One tid bit of information that seems valid in this scenario is the tiers of these cars in the ford lineup. There is a base level with the likes of the mustang v6, focus SE, and mustang Eco boost, then the next level up contains the mustang GT and focus ST. The final tier is ford’s “performance lineup”. That’s where the Shelby GT350R sits along with the focus RS.

So CarThrottle, a 2.3 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder or a 5 liter naturally aspirated V8?

I’d have the GT. I’m a fan of 4 cylinder turbo cars but I also love the Mustang GT. Bigger, more badass, more cylinders, more liters, more Murica.

Mustang GT for me. The low rumble at idle and the high pitched scream at redline, with an aftermarket exhaust, of course.

Ill take the V8. If four cylinders saves fuel, ill take 8 cylinders to save twice the fuel.
